About Me

I am 62 years old and work for a restaurant supply co. I am married with 2 grown children and 4 grandchildren. I like westerns and listen to music on the way into work. I collect postmarks, postcards, stamps, old books and lots and lots more. I am a member of quite a few postcard robins. I have alot more regular size cards than continentals. I house any postcards in file drawers and have a few topical collections in 3 ring binders. When I lived in Rhode Island I collected old bottles. Up there I dug them up. Here in Texas there aren't as many good digging sites. I like older postcards but collect animals, banks, airplanes, automobiles, ships , trains, large letter, court houses, sports stadiums, military, high schools, libraries, lighthouses, weapons, museum exhibits, exotic animals, minerals, books on pc, pictured stamps and postmarks, covered bridges.I am a member of a postcard club.we meet once a month. I have a couple of 10 drawer file cabinets in which I house my collection.

About Me

I also have collected coins for decades. I put this collection on the back burner until the coordinator of coin hideout renewed my interest in coins and got me interested in banknotes. still a beginner but enjoying her swaps immensely. Some of my coins that I've had for a long time I had to research to tell what country they came from. The same with some of my stamps - I love geography and have had to look up many countries to find out which continent they are on. I do not collect stamps by topic. I collect by country. In stamp albums the countries are listed alphabetically, and then the stamps oldest first up to the date that the album was published. The only unfortunate thing is that the albums I have are older with no pages of the newer stamps. I house those in vario pages.

About Me

I have just recently added foreign currency to my collecting interests. Swap bot got me started. I used to collect matchcovers, I still have them but I don't see many around anymore.I stopped collecting vintage paperbacks - my wife said our abode looked more like a warehouse than a home. I do still have a lot of nice old hardbacks.Update - am now64. Son graduated UT - bachelors degree with honors. Now at U of Chicago for Masters. Has written a book - Our Story - if you like to read please research. pc preferences - Birds, transportation,L.L., Texas, high schools, courthouses, libraries, greetings from, maps, lighthouses ,etc

Comment: Thank you for all the cards. They will be a good addition to my collection. Since I live in a Mobile home park I really cannot have a garden. We had large gardens before we moved back to town in the mid 80s. I kind of miss all the fresh vegetables we had back then. Now all I have is a small flower bed that is just starting to bloom. My Irises don't look like they are going to bloom this year but they are growing good. Also my son just planted a couple of small bushes that will grow into a ground cover in another small area that is hard to mow.

Comment: Great job choosing cards for this swap, Marc! I'm particularly fond of the fashion photo by Bill Cunningham. I love his series of NYC street fashion. The Parisian book stall also struck a chord. Could be the very one where I purchased some prints and old postcards back in the 70's. Thanks so much.

Comment: I enjoyed your letter. I participated in 12 writing swaps in April. That was quite a few for me. Thank you for the postcards. Postage is getting pricey. I liked the fishing lure stamp. Going to cut it off the envelope and use it in a collage. Have a happy May!

Comment: Thanks, I got a laugh from several cards. Hope your nice new sidewalk is finished now. We don't have sidewalks in my neighborhood. This subdivision was built in 1964. Some of the newer subdivisions do have sidewalks and the main business street (Commercial Avenue) has some newer ones. What we really need here are repaved streets and new water mains. This town is falling apart. Best regards, Rich

Comment: Hi Marc. I received your letter. Your memories of Maine sound accurate. :) I think it is wonderful that you are a part of swapbot. I enjoy the letter writing swaps as well. Are you a member of Postcrossing as well? If not, you should check that out. I think you would enjoy it if you like to send/receive postcards.

Comment: Hi, thank you so much for your lovely letter! I hope you have plenty of wonderful harvests with your plants this year! I don't have a backyard right now (and cats who like to eat plants inside) so I haven't planted veggies in a few years, yours sound wonderful! And congratulations to Matthew on graduating, and from such a great school too!

Hi Marc, today I got the second part of Clown Surprise that I alluded to in the first part. Will drop in mail tomorrow.

Did a substantial private card swap with Marc and it was incredibly thoughtful with items curated to my liking. Super unique. Genuinely, this stuff was so cool to receive and more than lived up to expectations. Thank you!

Thank you for the nice bonus postcard. I've actually been there, to Nijo Castle in Kyoto. Its most interesting feature is nightingale floors, floors that chirped when people walk on them.

Marc, Thank you sending the October WTA envie. Imagine my surprise when it came in January! I really appreciate you taking the time to follow up on this. I love both pcs, the cute cat notecard, and the washi. Oh, since you mentioned it... washi should be sent on a slick surface so it can all be used (a playing card is perfect... any size). When you put it on a regular cardstock surface, the first two passes tend to stick to the cardstock, rendering it unusable. Thanks again! You gave me a nice 2022 surprise 😮😀
